I haven’t posted anything for a while because I haven’t really played much. This summer has been quite busy for me between my job and seeing my friends. Also, some of my FFXI friends have been taking a break from the game, which has made me not wanting to log in that much.
I have leveled my SCH a bit, it’s level 70 (almost 71) now. I’ve mostly been exping it in LS parties and duoing with Alix. Duoing has been really awesome!
Also, I’ve been helping my LS mates with missions and stuff whenever I’ve had time for it. But I do have to admit, doing the same stuff again and again is starting to get a bit old, even if it is with good friends. Beating up Tenzen for the billionth time just doesn’t feel amazing anymore. I am happy to be able to help my friends though.
By the way, it’s funny that no matter what we’re doing, Lucross always dies. Every time. At least no EXP loss in this fight!
We’ve done some ACP stuff and now we’re stuck on the last fight. I mean seriously stuck. I’ve personally tried it three times now and I feel like giving up. Well, not really, but it’s frustrating.
On first try we decided (well, I decided and the others were stupid enough to agree) we’ll try zerging it. We had a RDM/DRK, BRD/WHM (me) and 4 melee DDs ready to tear it apart. Except they didn’t. We simply didn’t have enough DD power to get it down before the CS stun ended. And it didn’t help two of our DDs didn’t get to use their 2hr. Anyway, I don’t think we’ll try that again. Too much hassle and most of the people needing this fight don’t have a good job for zerg.
On second try we tried to learn from the strategy used on this video. Except we used PLD/WAR as tank (using HP and magic resist gear), 2 x BLU/WAR as DDs, DRG/BLU to pull and kill the clones (he doesn’t have any other job), BLM/RDM as stunner and SCH/WHM (me) as healer. Well, the plan was that PLD would run in first and use invincible and spam all his other abilities to cap his hate. Of course, he had just done a CoP fight and didn’t have his 2hr ability ready, which made it pretty hard for him to keep the hate from the BLUs. Also, the tank was supposed to run away from the charm move, but usually he didn’t get far enough in time which caused us some trouble. It really wasn’t his fault though. In the end, it wasn’t a bad try, but many little things went wrong and in the end we wiped. I think we could have won with that setup though, at least it had some potential.
On third try we tried to learn from the mistakes on our last try and use the same basic strategy, only changing some details. Our setup was WHM/SMN healer, BLM/WHM stunner, MNK/WAR tank (me), BLU/WAR and RNG/WAR DDs and DRG/WAR clone killer. Well, as it turned out, I didn’t manage to run away from the charm move any better than the PLD on our last try. I did keep the hate a bit better and had a bit more HP though (and of course, I also took more dmg). I don’t really know what went wrong there. I guess many things again. But anyway, we wiped again, and haven’t tried after that.
I guess I have to spend some time reading strategies for this fight (again) and think all the possible setups we could use. The problem is, we have many people needing the fight, but most of those people only have one of two 75 jobs, which means we don’t have every possible jobs available.
Here’s one screenshot from our ACP-mission night, I took it when we were getting a cs in Hall of Gods after the Fei’Yin fight. Zen had never been there before so it was nice to show him the place.
Lary told Zen that was “the machine to control the world” and explained how it worked:
Yesterday I helped a LS mate with CoP mission (the one where you need to kill NMs in Carpenter’s Landing, Bibiki bay and Misareaux Coast) and I got this nice screenie when I was hanging around with my evil buddies waiting for him:
After that we had Dynamis-Xarcabard. I’m first in line for both PUP and SCH drop there, so of course neither of them dropped. In fact, I have been first in line for the stupid PUP hat as long as it has existed in the game and I’ve never seen one drop. The dynamis gods don’t like me. Even though I’m a very brave dynamis-bard:
A fitting quote from one of my favourite TV shows: “I laugh at the face of danger – then I hide until it goes away.”
I’ll give you a cookie if you know where’s that from by the way.
Stay tuned for my future brave adventures! I will try to update soon, I promise.
