Sorry to see you go! I certainly see where you're coming from though -- I grinded out one job to 80, and I really can't find any motivation to level any of the others. The current end game is fun, and it's nice to see that SE is still adding to FFXI...but boo to the level cap increase :/ Have fun in FFXIV

Yeah, I agree as well. FFXI has been the best game I've ever played, unfortunately the recent June update didn't go the way I wanted it to so I had to leave as well. Goodluck to you and see ya in FFXIV.

P.S.

Nice place to pick to /logout for the final time.

Yeah, I also agree with you, Albi (first time for everything, huh ;D). I find it fun to set myself certain goals in game and working towards achieving them - and most of the time those goals are either finishing certain missions or obtaining certain pieces of gear. I simply can't play without some kind of goal, I will get bored pretty fast. And by this I don't mean that the game is all about finishing missions or getting gear - not at all - I just mean that I find those kind of things actually fun.

But these days I actually enjoy more getting other people what they want. I like organizing stuff like Limbus and Sky even though I don't really need anything from there myself. I just like playing with those people and I enjoy seeing other people get some nice pieces of gear. I guess I've realized that this game will be over soon - at least for me - and I just want to have a good time while I still can.

Grats!

Just adding that personally i feel that you partly play for gear but if you don't have fun while doing it, what's the point in playing anyway (maybe that's more of the problem):D There's a lot of fun things to do in this game that comes with a bonus, great gear. It doesn't automatically mean that there's something wrong if you have good stuff. It might simply mean you like doing lot of things in a game with friends and are decent enough to have something to wear from those things. I took a long break last year and eventually came back cause the fun ppl i played with, not the gear. Just my 2 cents :D

Grats again!

Yeah well, I agree with you, but it's really not about the item, it's about the memories that come with it, and those don't go away even when the servers will be closed. I don't think playing for gear would make any sense, because - like you said - the gear disappears as soon as the game ends. Healthy addiction, (or "happy addiction" as you called it :D) is when you play for fun, for the people and for the memories - well, at least in my opinion.

But yeah, see you in FFXIV! And hopefully irl before that. ;D

Oooh, you got it, congratulations! ^^ I remember thinking things like BB are for godly players only. xD

I don't want to rain on your parade, but when you think about it... So much effort for a tiny bunch of invisible pixels. D: I'm really hoping they'll add nothing like that for XIV. I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night to camp something ever again. xD Or cry, or get frustrated, or stay up way too late. It's just crazy when a game makes you do things like that, and I'm only realizing that properly now that I've been off the hook for almost a year. I always kept saying 'yeah it's just mad', but now I'm starting to really understand that. :D

In FFXI, you spend days and weeks and months for very marginal boosts to your performance (my new motto is, if you can't eyeball the change, don't bother xD). And all those months worth of effort will go POOF the second you get hooked to some other game. This is what I realized when they announced XIV last year, and it's what ultimately made me quit. Well, I did have five years of addiction-time under my belt already so I guess it was about time. xD

And now I've ranted in your dream come true -post. D; I suck! I just wanted to say, that in the end it's not really worth all that frustration. ^^; Happy addiction is good in my eyes, but the bad addiction that makes you RAWR and cry and twist your IRL-things in favor of the game is definitely bad. I personally decided to never get that immersed in a game again.

You're welcome to join Tahvo & me in our asskicking-club once XIV starts... We decided to kick eachother whenever we see serious signs of addiction. :p

But maybe I'm just bitter since I'm bored and stuff and I miss (some) of you guys. D; XIV GIEV NAO.
